Description

SolaX TBMS-S51-8 is the battery management unit (BMS) on which the TSYS-HS51 storage tower is built. One controller manages 2 to 13 TB-HS51 modules: it monitors cell voltage, current and temperature, connects the battery to the inverter, communicates with it over CAN and RS485 and controls the module heating. The base, brackets and cables are included.

What the controller does

The BMS has B+ and B− power terminals, a BMS communication port (RJ45, CAN + RS485), a HEAT port for module heating, a grounding terminal and a POWER button with breaker. Inside is a 750 V / 125 A DC fuse (EV/HEV type); rated operating current 60 A, maximum 70 A, short-circuit current 3,981 A. Holding the POWER button for more than 15 s starts the system without grid and without PV (black start). Remote diagnostics and updates run through the BMS.

Dimensions and box contents

The controller measures 600 × 376 × 225 mm (width × depth × height) and weighs 18.5 kg; the base is 600 × 376 × 60 mm, 4.7 kg – together they form a 285 mm tower foundation, to which 168 mm is added per module. In the box: BMS, top cover, base, adjustable and angle wall brackets, screws and anchors, cable guard cover, 2 m positive and negative 6 mm² power cables, 2 m communication cable, two RNB5.5-6 ring terminals and documents. The cable ends on the inverter side are left without connectors – the RJ45 and waterproof connectors come with the inverter's accessory kit; for 60 A the manufacturer specifies a 10 mm² cable.

Compatibility and versions

The controller works only with TB-HS51 modules and SolaX inverters from the official lists: X1-Hybrid G4 (2–8 modules), X3-Hybrid G4 and X3-Ultra 15K–30K (3–13). A second tower requires the separately ordered Series Box (600 × 376 × 225 mm, 15 kg) with its own base – it connects the towers in series to the same BMS. The manufacturer also makes the optimizer version TBMS-S51-8O; the optimizer works only when the BMS, modules and Series Box are of the same version, so the standard controller is supplied with standard modules.

Safety and warranty

IP66 enclosure, protection class I, outdoor and indoor operation. The manufacturer's warranty for the EU market for the T-BAT-SYS-HV-S51 system is 10 years with SolaX Cloud registration within 90 days of commissioning; accessories and installation tools are not covered.
