Description

SolaX TB-HS51 is a 5.1 kWh (100 Ah, 51.2 V) LiFePO4 battery module from which the TSYS-HS51 storage is built. The module contains 16 cells in series; it is placed on the TBMS-S51-8 control unit or on another module and adds 5.1 kWh of capacity, 51.2 V of voltage and about 3 kW of power to the system. You buy this module to expand an already running TSYS-HS51 storage or to assemble a non-standard configuration from separate parts.

How expansion works

One BMS can carry 2 to 13 modules. In one tower the inverter compatibility lists specify up to 8 modules, the user manual permits up to 10; more modules are connected as a second tower via the Series Box with its own base. Each added module raises the system voltage by 51.2 V, so before expansion we check that the new module count fits the inverter's limits: the single-phase X1-Hybrid G4 accepts up to 8 modules, the three-phase X3-Hybrid G4 and X3-Ultra up to 13. The manufacturer recommends expanding within the first year after installation following the SolaX battery extension procedure: before connection the new module must be at the same charge level as the existing ones.

Dimensions and installation

The module measures 600 × 376 × 168 mm (width × depth × height) and weighs 47 kg – the tower grows by 168 mm with each module, and the floor must bear four times the weight of the whole tower. The box contains the module and six M5 × 14 screws. IP66 enclosure, outdoor and indoor operation; charging with the system's heating from −30 °C, discharging without it from −20 °C.

Versions and compatibility

The standard TB-HS51 is for a system with the standard TBMS-S51-8 BMS. The manufacturer also makes a version with an energy optimizer (TB-HS51O), but the optimizer works only when the BMS, all modules and the Series Box are optimizer versions – with mixed versions the function does not work, so for expansion a module of the same version as already installed is used. The module works only in the TSYS-HS51 system with SolaX inverters from the official lists.

Safety and warranty

LiFePO4 cells, more than 6,000 cycles (90% DOD), certificates IEC 62619, IEC 62040, EN 62477, VDE 2510, transport according to UN38.3. The manufacturer's warranty for the EU market is 10 years; at least 70% of nominal capacity or 15.1 MWh of throughput per module is guaranteed, whichever is reached first.
