Description

The Dyness SBDU100 is the controller (BDU, battery distribution unit) of the STACK100 storage system, supplied with the standard base on which the module tower is built. One controller manages 3–15 S51100 modules (134.4–864 V, up to 100 A continuous current): it connects the battery to the hybrid inverter, maintains CAN or RS485 communication with it, and carries the DC breaker, Wi-Fi monitoring and parallel-connection ports. You buy this kit for a second parallel tower or for a storage system assembled from separate parts.

What the controller does

On the front: a Power Wake button, a Power On switch, the DC breaker (short-circuit protection; after a trip it may be re-closed after 30 min), positive and negative power terminals, grounding and two Wi-Fi antennas. For communication: two RJ45 'Inverter CAN/RS485' ports (pins 1–2 RS485, 4–5 CAN), Parallel in / out ports for further towers and a TCP/IP port for high-power inverters. The LED bar shows the state of charge and status. The built-in Wi-Fi and BLE 5 module connects the battery to the Dyness app (OTA updates).

Parallel connection

Up to 12 identical clusters are connected through the SBDU100: one BDU acts as master, the others as slaves via the Parallel ports with 120 Ω CAN resistors at both ends, and a DC busbar is required on the power side. The clusters must be of the same model and module count, connected at 100% state of charge, with a voltage difference of less than 20 V and an age difference of no more than 3 years. A second column of the same tower (13S–15S) does not need a BDU – expansion kit C is intended for it.

Dimensions and contents

The controller measures 590 × 390 × 133 mm and weighs 15.3 kg; the base 590 × 390 × 100 mm, 6.7 kg – together 22 kg and a 233 mm tower foundation. Package A contains: BDU, base, two wall brackets with anchors, an RJ45-CAN-120 CAN resistor, 2 m CAN and 2 m RS485 cables to the inverter, OT4-6 terminals, screws, the manual and the warranty card. DC power cables are listed as optional in manual V7.0 – we check what is included before you order.

Compatibility, safety and warranty

It works only with S51100 modules and inverters from the official Dyness STACK100 list; it is never connected directly to the AC grid. IP20, indoor installation. Warranty – as for the STACK100 system battery unit: 10 years in Europe with an active inverter connection; accessories and tools are not covered.
