Description

The SolaX X3-Hybrid-12.0-D is a 12 kW (up to 13.2 kVA) three-phase hybrid inverter, the step between the 10 and 15 kW models. We choose it when the permitted generating power is 12 kW or when 10 kW no longer covers the evening demand – a large house with a heat pump, an electric sauna or workshop equipment, an array of 15–24 kWp. Housing, MPPT inputs and battery port are the same as on the 10 kW model, but output power and EPS peak are higher.

How it differs from 10 and 15 kW

Against the 10 kW model the 12 kW offers 20 % more output (rated current 17.5 A, maximum 19.3 A per phase) and an EPS peak of 22.5 kVA – the same as the 15 kW model. The string inputs do not change: PV1 up to 28 A with two strings, PV2 up to 16 A with one, so the 24 kWp limit is reached not with more current but with longer strings within the 180–950 V window. Grid-charging power is the same as on the 10 and 15 kW models – up to 20 kVA (32 A). If the array or the demand approaches 15 kW, the 15 kW model is worth choosing.

Choosing the battery

One port, 120–800 V, up to 30 A, lithium or lead-acid battery. You get the full 12 kW from the battery with a tower whose nominal voltage is at least 400 V: 8 modules of T-BAT SYS-HV-S36 (29.4 kWh, 409.6 V) or 8 modules of TSYS-HS51 (40.9 kWh). With a smaller tower the inverter works, only the battery power is proportionally lower and the sun or the grid covers the difference.

Backup and phases

EPS output 12 kVA, switchover faster than 10 ms, 10 s peak 22.5 kVA – enough for a heat-pump compressor and a water pump to start together. Unbalanced output up to 5 kW per phase. For whole-house backup – the X3-EPS Box changeover unit.

Installation and safety

Housing 503 × 503 × 199 mm, 30 kg, IP65, fan (up to 45 dB) – garage, boiler room or outdoor wall under a canopy. Operating temperature −35 °C to +60 °C, derating above 45 °C. Type II SPD on the DC and AC side, DC switch, insulation and residual-current monitoring. Maximum efficiency 98.0 %.
