Description
The Sungrow SG20RT-P2 is a 20 kW three-phase grid inverter for a farm, workshop, shop or warehouse with a permitted generation capacity of 20 kW. It accepts up to 30 kWp of modules in four strings (two per MPPT) and delivers up to 22 kVA, 31.9 A per phase, into the 3/N/PE 400 V grid. The most powerful model in the series: the same 370 × 480 × 195 mm IP65 enclosure, 22 kg, fan cooling. A battery cannot be connected to this inverter – storage requires a hybrid inverter.
30 kWp on two inputs
Each MPPT accepts up to 32 A (40 A short-circuit) and delivers no more than 15.5 kW, so the inverter reaches its full 20 kW only with modules on both inputs – at least 4.5 kW must fall to the second one. Hence 30 kWp is best split into four similar strings, two per input. The inverter delivers full power at 430–850 V – the highest threshold in the series, so the strings are designed longest; MPPT range 160–1 000 V, maximum voltage 1 100 V (above 1 000 V, MC4 Evo2 connectors are required).
How it differs from the 15 kW model
The enclosure, weight, fan, four strings and 32 A inputs are the same; the AC power (20 vs 15 kW), module power (30 vs 22.5 kWp), output current (31.9 vs 25 A) and full-power threshold (430 vs 380 V) differ. European efficiency 97.9 % for both, maximum 98.3 %. For a system above 30 kWp, several inverters are combined.
Communication and control
The WiNet-S (or WiNet-S2) module in the COM1 port links the inverter to iSolarCloud over Wi-Fi or Ethernet; an LED indicator shows the status. For a single inverter, a DTSU666, DTSU666-20 or DTSD1352-C meter is connected to COM2 (A2/B2). At one point of connection the manufacturer allows up to five inverters: they are daisy-chained over RS485 (A1/B1, up to 10 m between devices, not together with the WiNet module), the shared meter – through a COM100E/D, and each inverter gets its own AC circuit breaker.
Mounting and warranty
Wall bracket included; the manufacturer specifies that the fan-cooled enclosure must not be installed in bedrooms or other noise-sensitive rooms, and that clearance is left between several inverters. AC cable 6–10 mm² (outer diameter 14–25 mm), a 40 A circuit breaker is recommended. Manufacturer warranty under the Sungrow Deutschland GmbH distribution terms – 10 years for inverters up to 20 kW installed in EU countries, including Lithuania.
