Description

The SolaX X1-BOOST-5K-G4 is a 5 kW single-phase grid inverter, a fourth-generation BOOST model with two MPPT inputs and a 200 % module oversizing margin: up to 10 kWp of solar modules can be connected to the 5 kW inverter. It is the choice for a home with a single-phase supply and a limited permitted generation capacity, when you want to install more modules than the supply allows to export and to even out production over the whole day.

Low start-up and a wide MPPT window

The MPPT works from 40 V and the inverter starts at 50 V – the lowest values of the three X1 models offered here (the X1-6.0K-T starts at 100 V, the X1-Hybrid-6.0-D at 90 V). Short strings also work, for example on a small roof or a carport, and production starts earlier in the morning. Each MPPT accepts up to 16 A (22 A short-circuit), so high-current modules are also suitable. Maximum efficiency is 98 %, European efficiency 97 %. Global MPP scan and I-V curve diagnosis help to detect string problems remotely.

When to choose 5 kW rather than 6 kW

If the permitted generation capacity or the supply limits export to about 5 kW, a larger inverter gives no advantage – the module margin matters more, and this model has the largest. Rated current is 21.7 A. If the supply allows 6 kW and there will be 6–9 kWp of modules, choose the X1-6.0K-T-D(L); if you plan storage, choose the X1-Hybrid-6.0-D, because the BOOST series has no battery port.

Mounting and communication

The housing measures 404 × 146 × 274 mm and weighs 11.5 kg – the lightest and lowest of the three models; IP66, natural cooling, 25 dB. Operating temperature from −25 °C to +60 °C. Interfaces: RS485, DRM, USB and a heat pump control interface; up to 5 inverters run in parallel over Modbus without an external controller. Monitoring via SolaX Cloud with a SolaX Pocket WiFi, LAN or 4G dongle (we will confirm the package contents); export control requires a SolaX CT or meter, purchased separately.

Safety and warranty

DC switch, Type II DC surge protection (optional on the AC side), residual current monitoring, insulation monitoring, anti-islanding; AFCI arc detection is optional. Complies with IEC/EN 62109-1/-2 and EN 50549. Manufacturer's warranty 5 years; registered on SolaX Cloud – 10 years free of charge.
